The July 2025 school holidays were full of adventure, movement, and non-stop climbing fun thanks to Climbtopia – a free, one-of-a-kind activation, that had kids scaling new heights here at Chartwell Shopping Centre.

Held in Centre Court on level 1, Climbtopia stood an impressive 3.3 metres high and featured a rotating surface powered by a Kinetic Energy Recovery System (K.E.R.S) – making it New Zealand’s first continuous climbing wall.

The free activation was delivered in partnership with Differenz and Robin de Goeij, who brought this innovative wall all the way from Finland to New Zealand!

With no harness required and the wall adjusting to the climber’s pace, kids could safely push their limits and enjoy movement in a whole new way.

Parents and grandparents loved watching their kids get active and build confidence with every climb. One parent shared,

“Even though there is a line, it never takes long, unlike other activities in the school holidays.”

Another visitor said,

“My kids just keep asking to go back, so here we are!”
